BRIEF PROFILE AGR, which stands for "Abfallentsorgungs-Gesellschaft Ruhrgebiet mbH", was founded in 1982 and has its head office in Essen. The sole shareholder is RVR – the Ruhr "Regionalverband" association of municipalities. In various corporate forms the company can look back on more than 40 years of experience in waste management. The AGR Group is led by Joachim Ronge, the Chief Executive Officer of AGR mbH (Holding).

The group's operational business is implemented by three divisions: AGR Waste Disposal and Recycling under the management of Matthias Redeker, AGR Environmental Services under the management of Dr. Susanne Raedeker and AGR Internal Services, managed by Waldemar Kirscht.

In 1968 AGR was part of the movement to regulate waste management in Germany and to the present day the company has continued to set benchmarks, thanks to its technical innovations in the interests of protecting the environment. AGR's core business is the disposal of waste from households, commerce and industry together with the recovery of recyclable materials from waste. With 15 subsidiaries and participations backed up by extensive experience in managing large-scale plant and installations, the AGR Group offers a range of concepts and solutions in which the interests of economy, ecology and social responsibility are well balanced.

The company works strictly in line with the principles of private industry and is today one of Germany's leading municipal waste management operators. In the Ruhr region AGR has the overall largest number of waste treatment and disposal facilities. These include the RZR Herten, which in terms of environmental technology is one of Europe's most modern incineration plants for municipal and business waste. In addition there are two landfill sites for special waste, one of them the Ruhr area's largest central landfillsite (ZD Emscherbruch), which have disposal capacities sufficient for the next twenty years and beyond.

The group's range of services is rounded off by extensive recycling activities for municipal and business customers, together with further services in the field of environmental protection. In the course of its operations the AGR group has so far disposed of well over 50 million tonnes of municipal and commercial waste.

In 2008 the AGR Group and the specialist subsidiaries which operate under its umbrella generated consolidated sales of € 157 million with total balance sheet assets of € 476 million and a workforce of 1000 skilled employees.
